Getting there…..

There have been some complaints that I haven’t updated my blog. This is because I haven’t actually got to the boat yet.

After a hectic 4 days in NYC, I have just arrived in Panama City. After the freezing weather in NY I’m enjoying a balmy night here. Shocked to find there is almost nowhere to smoke. Has the world gone mad?

I think the hotel must be at the end of the Panama Canal cause there is a constant stream of massive ships silently slipping past the hotel balconey.

Tomorrow morning, my nephew Gavin, and I fly to Corozon de Jesus on the Atlantic side of the Panama Canal. Sapphire is anchored off-shore about 3 miles from the airport awaiting our arrival. John has gone ashore in the rubber dingy (aka RIB or Tender for those unfamiliar with nautical terms) to see how we might get the 3 miles from the airport to the shore.
I’m sure it will all work out fine – but we will not be walking the 3 miles, that’s for sure.

I haven’t taken any photos yet but will do when I get to the boat.
In the meantime, John is putting daily logs on the ARC website and by the sounds of it the San Blas islands, where I’ll be tomorrow with any luck, are amazing. Have a read. I’ve sent you all the link.

I’ll post a proper blog – with photos, before we leave San Blas for the Panama Canal.
